Concrete and the environment

Most of our concrete is made from ground-granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS)

Most of our concrete is made from ground-granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS), it’s a by-product of iron and steel making and ground down to a fine powder. GGBS is highly cementitious and high in calcium silicate hydrates which is a strength enhancing compound, improves strength, durability and the appearance of your concrete.

As well as the smart use of by-product resources, with our fleet on the road every day we also monitor our fuel usage and try to be as economical as possible with our truck movements and scheduling in order to reduce waste and excess use of fossil resources.
